    Feeling lots better...

and I think I am going to make it.  I woke up this morning and the first thing I thought was that I felt so much better.  Thank you God!  Thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers from all of you, my space family.

I am giving myself a few days off from everything this week.  I am having the plumber come today as my ac is blowing out warm air instead of cool air.   Fortunately it is not too hot although it is to warm to the upper 80s today.  First time I have had to have the plumber this year.  Knock on wood.  Last year he was here several times as one thing after another happened.

My brother is coming to see me on Friday, just a stop through for lunch as he will be on his way to northern Indiana for a poker tournament.  This is a gift his wife gave him for Father's Day.  He has been to poker tournaments in St. Louis and Las Vegas.  Doesn't interest me although I love to play poker just for the fun of it.

I hope you all are having a great week.  Stay safe and be happy!!

    Home...

and still not feeling very well.  Evidently I have had some kind of bug these last few days.  When I got up this morning I thought I felt well enough to go to workout.  Just the few minutes on the treadmill and I decided to come home as I was feeling tough.  The doctor checked my heart and asked me if I wanted to wear a heart monitor.  I told him (doctor on call) no as it has only been a couple of years since I have worn one.  I will just rest for a few more days and if I am not feeling better I will make an appt with my doctor.  My next scheduled appt with her is in November and I don't want to wait that long.

Now I am going to change my clothes and head for the recliner.  Thank you for the prayers and good thoughts.
    I love you all.

    Update..

Just a few lines to let you all know that I am still not feeling well at all.  I am leaving to see the doctor in  a couple of hours.  Talk to you when I get back.

    There is HOPE...

and a possible light at the end of the tunnel.  My niece had her initial appointment  concerning a liver transplant at Johns Hopkins yesterday.  They are setting up another appointment for her where she will have quite a battery of tests done.  If these tests go OK she will be placed on the national transplant list.  Please continue to keep Dee in your thoughts and prayers.

It is still very warm here.  We were spared the storms that hit to the north of us.  I am so thankful for that.

I have lots of things I want to get done today.  The first thing running a couple of errands and then stopping by my little store for the weekly specials.  Then I hope to tackle some cleaning in the house.  It has been too hot for me to put a second coat of paint on the porch steps so hopefully I can get to that this weekend.

My next door neighbors came over together over the weekend to tell me that they are putting their house up for sale and are moving across town.  They want a one story house.  I really hate the thought of new neighbors and now I won't have anyone close by to eat all of the stuff I cook.  Send me your addys and watch your mail for a goody package.  Wink   Seriously, they have been very good to me.  They will still be in town but it won't be the same as living next door.  I will just wait and see as they are asking a very high price for their house and it may not move fast.  Wink

Gotta get going as the day is moving along  at a rapid pace.

One down and one to go...

and I am home from my doctor appointment minus 6 tubes of blood.  I just hate going to the doctor.  The traffic on the interstate is already in the 4th of July mode and everyone was speeding .  (Not me  Wink )  There were no fuzz out so I imagaine they are saving the manpower for later on in the week.  I will be glad to get the trip done tomorrow.

I think some of you have visited my recipe space that is dedicated to my Jim.  When I first started that space in March of 2007 it was just 3 months after Jim's death in Dec. 2006.  In the beginning I had a space where I was writing my own little feel sorry for me posts.  It was somewhere I posted  blogs that were not upbeat at all.  I couldn't seem to get a grip so that I could pull myself up.  Then one day a very nice young lady namedShelly visited my space and gave me a nice talking too.  It was stern but it was just the jolt I needed.  I changed my space right away.  I have posted almost 300 old family photos.  I have recipes from several members of my family and even a few from some of my blogging friends.  Shelly has become as dear to me as a daughter and she has done more for me the last 2 years with her caring than the so called grief counselor I saw.  Love ya Shelly and I am very proud of you.

I am tired so I am not doing workout today.  I will have to wait till Wednesday to get back in the groove.

    Hugs,
    Beth

Catch you all in a few days...

You all be good and don't do anything that I wouldn't do, haven't done, or wanted to do.  That about includes everything.

    I love you all!

    Thank you all so much...

My cousin Audrey was very moved by comments and prayers you offered for her grandson Nate.  She thought you all might like to see a picture of him.  This is Nate with his younger sister Haley.  Haley thinks her big brother is perfect.  Audrey will let me know how Nate is doing and I will keep you all updated.

Thank you so much for your prayers.

Today is to be a warm windy day with a high in the mid 70s.  I will work in the garage this afternoon getting more cleaning done.

I stocked up on Healthy Choice TV dinners yesterday as they were 2 for $10.  Meijer has permanently lowered prices for the time being for milk to $1.98 a gallon and 89 cents a dozen for large eggs.  There was a big notice in their ad on Sunday.  Gas here has dropped again to $1.85 a gallon.  We will see how long that lasts.  By the way, I did buy spaghetti so I think we should make this spaghetti and meatball day for our blogging family.

Gotta scoot around and visit all of you.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Big smile on my face on Monday...

and the cells were benign.  Some were abnormal but not malignant.  I go back in 6 months for another ultrasound and we will go from there.  My BP has been elevated the last few days so I was able to get in to see the kidney/BP specialist too.  Not my regular handsome doctor but his new associate from Jordan.  Such a nice young man and not nearly so crabby as my handsome doctor.  Anyway to make a long story short, my BP was normal in there this morning.  I think I have been so stressed out with worrying about surgery in the dead of winter that I caused my BP to go up.  My most heartfelt thanks to all of you who have been praying for me and with me.  I am so thankful for you all.  Red heart

My neighbor was kind enough to go with me again while his wife was busy making pumpkin and pecan pies.  I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.  Thank you Carole, for the special prayers.

    Love,
    Beth

    I'm Back...

Hi everyone, sorry if I worried any of you.  We had a big wind storm and my internet and phone service has been down since Saturday afternoon.   I have 83 emails (alerts) in my hotmail box and just about that many in my main email box.  i will get to them soon I promise.

What do you do when your internet service is down and the landline hasn't worked for 48 hours?  You use up all of your monthly cell phone minutes in 2  days.  LOL

My sister got home from the hospital this weekend.  She is doing as well as can be expected.  Me, I am about to go bananas waiting for next Monday to come so I can get the results of my test.

I am off now to read emails and then I will start visiting.  Stay safe and be happy!!

    Home...

and I look like a vampire bit me.  I have two big puncture wounds on my neck and don't let anyone tell you it doesn't hurt because it hurts like he**!  It took about an hour and a half.  They take 6 samples (slides) and they send the picture via the internet to the pathologist and he sees if there are enough thyroid cells in the sample so that they can determine if the procedure needs to be done again.  Unfortunately the internet connection didn't work properly and I had to wait there for the pathologist to come from the hospital to the clinic to look at the slides.  Fortunately there were enough thyroid cells that it didn't have to be done again.  I will see the surgeon on Monday morning the 22nd to find out if the cells are malignant and if I need to have surgery done.  I just spoke to my niece Dee in WV.  Rae came through her surgery fine and she is in intensive care.  Thank you all for your prayers.  There are none better than my space friends.

    I love you all!

    Sunday..

and here it is, our first winter weather advisory for the season:

THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO
    12 PM CST MONDAY.

A MIXTURE OF SNOW AND RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE TO ALL SNOW THIS
AFTERNOON AS LOW PRESSURE DEEPENS TO OUR EAST AND SURFACE
TEMPERATURES LOWER TO AROUND FREEZING. THE SNOW WILL THEN CONTINUE
OFF AND ON THROUGH MONDAY MORNING WITH THE BULK OF ACCUMULATION
OCCURRING TONIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY MORNING. TOTAL SNOWFALL BY
MONDAY AFTERNOON IS EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM 4 TO 6 INCHES ALONG
AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80...TAPERING TO 2 TO 4 INCHES OVER FORD
AND IROQUOIS COUNTIES. IN ADDITION...STRONG NORTH WINDS WILL BE
DEVELOPING LATE TONIGHT AND WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF
SNOW IN OPEN AREAS AS TEMPERATURES FALL BELOW FREEZING.
OK, this means I will have to shovel snow tomorrow just to get to the garage.  I looked outside as I opened the curtains a few minutes ago.  We have already got a pretty good snow cover now.  I think snow is pretty to look at if you have someone else to drive you around to where you have to go and clean the sidewalks and driveway for you.  I know some of you deal with lots more snow than this and I could too 20 years ago.  LOL
A new author I have just discovered.  His name is Richard Montanari.  He writes murder mystery suspense stories and he is pretty darn good.  I have just started on this book and it is going to be a page turner.
This is the only day of the week I allow myself 2 cups of coffee.  I have one more cup to go and I am off to the kitchen to get it.  Have a great day and stay safe and be happy!!

    Friday...

Yesterday morning at 10AM I received a call from the radiology department at the clinic telling me that it appeared I had a fracture of a bone in my elbow.  So hurry, hurry, if I can get to the downtown clinic by 11:15AM I can see an orthopedic doctor.  Well, I just did make it.  The doctor told me that it is not a fracture it is a bone spur.  I have some of those on my right ankle so I know how painful they are.  My elbow is swollen and painful so he says there is an infection in there too but he doesn't mention an antibiotic just says keep on with the pr***nisone  course of med.  Then I get to have 4 tubes of blood drawn one of them being to check for rheumatoid arthritis.  By this time I have way missed my lunch so I hurry home to eat something and take the med.  I asked him about workout and he said to go ahead just to skip the ones that involved my arms.  Well that is over half of them so I will just wait until Monday and see how my arm is.

Carole suggested to me yesterday in her comment that I take my camera out and go for a walk and take some pictures.  I walked to the library over the railroad cut and I took a couple of pictures to show you.

library and railroad cut aug08 008

Then I stopped to take a picture of our  library which was established in 1903.  The library has a lovely bean tree just like mine but they have a custodian to clean up the beans.  In my library system (the Lincoln trails) I have many  library's that I can borrow books from.

See I told ya my town was little.  Well I have to run now.

    Stay safe and be happy!!

    Sunday...

and my sister and b-i-l left about an hour ago heading for home.  We all had a good time but not much sleeping was done so I am worn out.  I know they were too and they have a long trip home.  Rae brought me some more new clothes.  All I really need now is some new jeans for this fall.

Friday we went to garage sales.  It was one of the best times I have had since my husband has been gone.  Before he became ill we would always check out the garage sales on Friday and Saturday.  We found some good bargains.  Some DVDs unopened of some really good movies for $3.  The shopping we did was a bit disappointing.  I couldn't find the camcorder that I wanted, so I decided maybe I really didn't want one as nothing would please me.  Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

The peach pie was a big hit as was the strawberry shortcake.  I was expecting my s-i-l to come with my daughter but he had to work so I have lots of potato salad left.  Mike is my big eater.  Only one piece of chicken left and the baked beans are all gone.  I will have to send some stuff next door.  I definitely will be ready for workout on Monday as I ate way too much.

I didn't get the video made.  Too many things going on.

08-24-2005 12_07_25PMThis is not a good picture so take a quick look at it as I will be removing it in a day or two.  It is my brother Bill and my S-I-L Karen.  The other picture I found a few day ago.  I think Rae and I were still in grade school.  Take the note of our designer clothes.  LOL  We survived and that is the important thing.  I am sure the clothes were confiscated from one of our brothers.

I will get around to visit you all as soon as I can.

    Stay safe and be happy!!

    Thursday...

and my family got here last night. We have been pretty busy.  Today I looked everywhere for the camcorder that Bill recommended.  None to be found in the big city.

I won't be posting again until Sunday.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  Take care!!

    Stay safe and be happy!!

    Thursday...

and I am upset.  Spaces took my Thursday post away and it is floating somewhere in cyberspace now.

Thanks to everyone who gave me input on selling my house and moving into a condo in the big city.  As long as I am able to manage I will stay here.

I went to the cemetery today and placed a live flower and silk flowers on Jim's grave.  The American Legion had the flag holders all ready and they will put up the flags this weekend.

I am off, not to track down my other post, but just to meditate a  while I think.  LOL

Reminding you all again to stay safe and be happy!!
    5/16/2008

    Friday...

and I am home from my visit with my PPC.  My BP is still running high so I got yet another new med.  I am sick of this.  I also had X-Rays taken of my neck and got an appt with a pain management specialist.  Lets see now, within the next 2 weeks I see the kidney specialist, an endocrinologist and the pain management specialist.  I am so excited over all of  this I can hardly contain myself.  Some days it hardly pays to get out of bed.

That is enough complaining.  It is not my style.  I just had to take a few minutes to feel sorry for myself and I had already unloaded all of this mess on my sister so I needed a new audience.  LOL

On the bright side, it is a beautiful day, 68 degrees and bright sunshine.  That is really good news.  I think Sandi and I might go and get the rest of the flowers for planting tonight.

I won't post until later tomorrow as I have baked chocolate chip cookies and I am off to see my son first thing in the morning 'if the Good Lord is willing and the creeks don't rise.'  One of my dad's favorite sayings.

Have a great weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!

    Going through old pictures...

    beth first grade

and finding lots of forgotten treasures, like this picture taken when I was in the first grade.  If you picked the girl in the back row on the left side of the picture you found me.  Sitting in front of the fireplace in the middle with his arms crossed was my first boy friend Giles.  I mentioned  him in a class picture that I posted when I was in the 6th grade.  Times have really changed since then.  And not  all for the good.

I threw out a waste basket full of pictures today.  I am just saving the ones I want to scan into the computer.  Neither of my kids are interested in old family pictures so I am glad I have got a big hard drive.

My daughter arrived last night and I am off to my doctor appointment in a couple of hours.  Update later.

    Stay safe and be happy!!

    *****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

I am home from the doctor.  He was very nice to me and told me he was very proud of my efforts...he was so nice he gave me a prescription for additional BP meds which I start in the morning.  I have diet restrictions and I see him again in 2 months and my PCP I see on April 10th.  I am on the bandwagon of running to the doctor every 5 minutes which I hate with a passion.

P.S.  Dare I repeat again that my kidney/bp doctor is really handsome?

    3/13/2008

    Thursday and...

it's time for the local news.  Headline:  Officers still hope to find missing woman.  Police make plea for public's help.  On March 9, 2007, 20 year old J. H. left her home in (my city) for a party in Ran****, never to be seen by her family again.  One year later after extensive searches in a 3 county area, police still have hope that the missing woman can be found.  This is so sad.  This family is heartbroken.

Also on the front page.  Taylor B., 9 years old, is recuperating after a massive stroke.  A benefit is being held on Saturday, March 22 for her.  Taylor can no longer jump, ride a bike or throw a ball like other children her age.  I had no idea that a child could have a stroke.  I know her grandmother and my heart aches for them.

No. 2 man in drug ring gets 35 years in prison after being convicted for his part in a drug conspiracy which law enforcement officials termed the largest cocaine operation in (my) county history.  35  years is not enough, it should have been life.

A new page entitled Senior Living.  I skip right over that.  After all, you are only as old as you feel.

Police News.  Nope, I didn't see anyone I knew in that column.

4 pages of sports and 1/2 page of Obits, didn't see anyone I knew in that column either...

I am just home from going north on 57 today.  The traffic was horrendous and some jack***  tried to kill me again.  I don't know, I may be getting too old for this kaka and just stay at home.  Gas prices this morning were $3.35 a gallon. I do know that anytime I get on the interstate I am hoping that God is riding in the passenger seat with me.

On that note, stay safe and be happy!!

Thursday, time for the local news...

and other good stuff.   In the headline,  "Got Fuel?, R*****s  doesn't now.  The only gas station in this little town of 380 people (about 25 miles from me) has closed their only gas station.  Now residents will have to drive to my little bitty town or others around here to gas up.  That's life, sometimes it's hard, sometimes it's kind.  (Wait a minute, I think that is a line from an old Jones/Wynette song)

Gaming class eyed at our local high school.  Our school board approved a new class on video games.  Quote, 'From the board's standpoint, it's important to know that it keeps kids interested.'  Unquote from me.  What a bunch of BS!!!  Our taxes are so high now and something like this makes me furious.

Leaking water line repaired downtown.  I wondered why the city was digging up the street down from the post office and now I know.

Bu***** man proposes to his girlfriend using sign at deli.  This happened on Valentine's Day.  Boy, you can sure tell our newspaper is searching for news.

Teen jailed after trespassing with knife at our local high school.  He remains incarcerated in the **** County jail.  Bond is set at $10,000.

Three pages of local sports and only 4 obituaries.  Whew!!!!!!

I am home from workout.  For all of you interested in Curves, I am posting a flier from them.  For the month of March for $30 and a bag of groceries you can enroll.

    Stay safe and be happy!!

Yesterday was kind of a downer but...

there was one bright spot.  The minute I got home from my visit to the doctor I received flowers from my brother.  He is such a sweetie pie.

    14feb2008 003

Isn't the arrangement pretty?  Just look at the big M&M cup I will have to drink my tea out of and folks, that is real M&M candy in the little M&M heart.  Love ya Bro!!!!

My doctor did holler a little (well a lot) at me yesterday.  My BP was up as was everything else except the triglycerides which had gone down 35 points.  She changed one of my meds around.  Now though, instead of seeing her every 4 months I see her in 2 months.  She said she will let my kidney specialist change my BP meds around as he is a specialist in that too.  I see him next month.  On the bright side I had lost 4 more lbs.

I am heartsick over the shootings at NIU at DeKalb.  17 persons injured and 5 including the gunman killed.  Are we safe anywhere?

It is 19 degrees out this morning but it is pretty clear.  No walks to shovel as I head out to workout in a few minutes.

Have a great weekend!  Stay safe and be happy!
